The lab is usually
a stranger
In most cases your crown is made by someone you will never meet, in a facility you will never see, from an impression and a photograph. It is a reasonable system and it mostly works.
But when the shade is slightly wrong, or the contour reads oddly against your lip, the fix is a courier and a fortnight. Doing it here removes that loop entirely.
Shade matched in person
A ceramist can look at your teeth in the room, in daylight, rather than working from a photograph taken by someone else.
Corrections in hours
If something is a shade off, it goes back down the hall — not into a courier envelope for a two-week round trip.
